Next #GA Governor David Pennington

By @Orangeone4

Although FourCornersUSA focuses its blogs on national House and Senate candidates, this Gubernatorial candidate struck me  as an exceptional example of a Constitutional conservative who MUST be featured!  Pennington did not hold back on his opposition to amnesty. Catch our Twitter exchange:

Meet David Pennington (@DavidforGeorgia) (from his campaign site)

PenningtonFamily

Pennington founded Advanced Insurance Strategies, is a 3rd generation small business owner and is a proven job creator.  David graduated from the University of Georgia and majored in economics.

As Mayor of Dalton, property taxes were reduced 28%, general fund spending was significantly cut, and the emergency surplus increased by over 50%.  He also cut business license fees by 50% and streamlined the process to encourage entrepreneurs and job creators.   He donated his Mayoral salary to Dalton State College, which funded scholarships for 24 hard-working students.

This video is well worth the 7 minutes!  He had me with:

“For too long too many politicians have put themselves before the people.  They forgot campaign promises are not just to win elections, they are a trust between the candidate and the people.”

Watch the entire presentation below where David speaks of streamlining government, bringing ETHICS back to government, job creation {he is a proven job creator as a small business owner and Mayor}, returning education decisions to families and the local communities, cutting welfare fraud and waste, and focusing on a “hand up” rather than a “hand out”.

Awards and Recognition

From his site: “Recognition is appreciated, but it has to be earned. David has been recognized with the Rotary Guardian of Ethics Award in 2013, inducted into the Northwest Georgia Business Hall of Fame in 2013, presented with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award in 2012, received the Dalton Rotary Club Lee Arrendale Vocational Excellence Award in 2011, given the Carlton “Corky” Kell Award for contributions to Georgia athletes and coaches in 2010, and received an award from the Dalton/Whitfield Chamber of Commerce as Business Leader of the Year in 1995.”

On The Issues (from his tweets and campaign site)

Constitution – “David believes government is there to protect individual liberty and freedom, not restrict it.  Our Constitution at both the state and federal level is not just a piece of paper, it provides the roadmap for how our government must (emphasis added) operate. David believes strongly we are endowed by our creator with inalienable rights including Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Second Amendment – David’s 2nd Amendment video says it all.  Click on the link the tweet to view.

Education – Pennington is the FIRST recipient of the Education Liberty Award (read his press release here) and has pledged to stop Common Core in Georgia. He is also endorsed by the Education Freedom Coalition.  His full position can be read here.

And has the Savanah Tea Party(@Savteaparty) support for the halt of Common Core!

Religious Liberty – Pennington has stated Religious Liberty Legislation is a priority.  Read his full statement here.

Ethical Leadership for Georgia – “Our next Governor needs to be someone people can trust, not someone who is in the world’s newspapers with personal ethics problems. Georgians should not be worried that our state’s chief executive is spending more time worrying about defending himself than helping improve our state.  Read his entire position statement here.

Job Creation – Pennington’s goal is to implement the job growth strategies he successfully implemented in Dalton to statewide Georgia.  Further information on his job creation strategy can be read here and listen to his proven success below.

Tax Reduction and Government Efficiency – “As Mayor, David Pennington cut taxes, wasteful spending and reformed his city budget.  While the region around Dalton continues to struggle, Dalton is doing well with lower unemployment.”  As with job creation, David successfully reduced property taxes in Dalton and turned it into a thriving city.  Read more on his success and plan for Georgia here.

Welfare Reform – “Our next Governor needs to be open to reforming welfare to protect taxpayers and ensure help is there for the truly needy, not just those who are looking for a handout.  Our current Governor has seen the number of people on food stamps rise. Georgia now ranks 6th in the nation for the number of people on food stamps.  That is unacceptable.  We need real welfare reform with an eye on costs both to our society and to the taxpayer.”
