US Senate Candidate for #MN: #OathKeeper @PhillipCParrish

By @Orangeone4

I was introduced to Phillip Parrish through Twitter!  Being a Minnesota citizen, vetting of the candidates is vital as we select Al Franken’s replacement!

Mission

“Support and encourage those among us demonstrating honor, courage, commitment, integrity, honesty, a genuine love for our constitution, America, and Minnesota to believe they can stand up and lead. Honor those who have suffered and died in the pursuit of liberty and justice for all.”

Meet #OathKeeper Phillip Parrish (@phillipcparrish).

  • Principal at Gerard Academy and Treatment Center for youth with emotional and behavioral disorders, counseling students and managing the academy’s $1.7 million budget and $1.3 million capital improvements projects, liaison to the Department of Education as subject matter expert

Watch his introductory video here:

On the Issues (from his campaign site)

National Security – “Phillip Parrish believes a national foreign policy based on Peace through Strength is the best formula to safeguard our shores.  As the next U.S. Senator from Minnesota, Phillip will work to maximize Minnesota’s role in equipping America’s military with the resources and technological edge necessary to win the conflicts of the 21st century…Parrish recognizes the chief responsibility of Congress is to protect the American people from threats to our national security, both foreign and domestic.”  Read about Minnesota entrepreneurs and technology used by our military here.

Empower States – “The Highway Trust Fund is insolvent and the Obama Administration and Democratic Party Liberals, like Al Franken and Elizabeth Warren, are intent on raising the Federal Gasoline Excise Tax by 10 cents to 18 cents per gallon.  Phillip Parrish believes it is time to empower Minnesota to rise above the gridlock and EPA agendas in Washington DC by phasing out the Highway Trust Fund. ”  Read his full position statement here.

Immigration – “Congress has failed in its responsibility to secure our borders.  Phillip Parrish opposes blanket amnesty for those in America illegally.  Phillip believes that enforcing current laws and cutting federal funding to “sanctuary cities” are the first two steps Congress should take in the quest to mend our broken immigration system.”  Continue reading his position on our rule of law and expedited deportations here.

Protect Our Courts – “Phillip Parrish believes that the U.S. Constitution is the most positive expression of social justice the world has ever witnessed.  To protect America’s federal courts, Phillip will filibuster and oppose the confirmation of activist judicial nominees.  To Restore OUR Republic, Phillip will vote to confirm judicial nominees who have consistently based their rulings on the original intention of the framers of the Constitution.”  You can read his commitment in full here.

Second Amendment – “The Second Amendment to the Constitution is clear: “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”  As a member of the National Rifle Association, Phillip Parrish opposes any encroachment on the Second Amendment, and when elected to serve Minnesota, Phillip will oppose any future attempt to erode the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.  To Phillip’s mind, the issue is cut and dry—gun rights are not negotiable.”

Enhance Adoption as the Option – “Phillip Parrish believes in the sanctity of every human life and in the restorative power of the American family unit. By enhancing Adoption as an Option, Phillip will pursue a legislative agenda that empowers women, saves innocent lives and restores hope to those in foster care.  As an adoptive father and as a former Principal of the Austin based Gerard Academy and Treatment Center for girls and boys with behavioral disorders, Phillip is uniquely qualified to craft legislation that promotes Adoption as an Option for expectant mothers considering abortion.

Farewell to Obamacare – Read Parrish’s repeal and replacement position here.

Abolish the Death Tax – “The American people overwhelmingly believe that the Federal Estate Tax is nothing short of a double tax on a life’s worth of hard work.  Phillip Parrish agrees and believes that the Death Tax is both punitive and immoral.  The number one reason families are not handing small farms and businesses down to the next generation in America today, remains the Death Tax.  Abolishing the Death Tax will generate over 1 million jobs around the country at a time when millions of Americans have given up the search.  As Senator, Phillip Parrish will stand as a champion of the American dream by supporting legislation that enacts the full and permanent repeal of the Federal Estate Tax.  Death should never be a taxable event.” (emphasis added)

Next #GA Governor David Pennington

By @Orangeone4

Although FourCornersUSA focuses its blogs on national House and Senate candidates, this Gubernatorial candidate struck me  as an exceptional example of a Constitutional conservative who MUST be featured!  Pennington did not hold back on his opposition to amnesty. Catch our Twitter exchange:

Meet David Pennington (@DavidforGeorgia) (from his campaign site)

PenningtonFamily

Pennington founded Advanced Insurance Strategies, is a 3rd generation small business owner and is a proven job creator.  David graduated from the University of Georgia and majored in economics.

As Mayor of Dalton, property taxes were reduced 28%, general fund spending was significantly cut, and the emergency surplus increased by over 50%.  He also cut business license fees by 50% and streamlined the process to encourage entrepreneurs and job creators.   He donated his Mayoral salary to Dalton State College, which funded scholarships for 24 hard-working students.

This video is well worth the 7 minutes!  He had me with:

“For too long too many politicians have put themselves before the people.  They forgot campaign promises are not just to win elections, they are a trust between the candidate and the people.”

Watch the entire presentation below where David speaks of streamlining government, bringing ETHICS back to government, job creation {he is a proven job creator as a small business owner and Mayor}, returning education decisions to families and the local communities, cutting welfare fraud and waste, and focusing on a “hand up” rather than a “hand out”.

Awards and Recognition

From his site: “Recognition is appreciated, but it has to be earned. David has been recognized with the Rotary Guardian of Ethics Award in 2013, inducted into the Northwest Georgia Business Hall of Fame in 2013, presented with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award in 2012, received the Dalton Rotary Club Lee Arrendale Vocational Excellence Award in 2011, given the Carlton “Corky” Kell Award for contributions to Georgia athletes and coaches in 2010, and received an award from the Dalton/Whitfield Chamber of Commerce as Business Leader of the Year in 1995.”

On The Issues (from his tweets and campaign site)

Constitution – “David believes government is there to protect individual liberty and freedom, not restrict it.  Our Constitution at both the state and federal level is not just a piece of paper, it provides the roadmap for how our government must (emphasis added) operate. David believes strongly we are endowed by our creator with inalienable rights including Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Second Amendment – David’s 2nd Amendment video says it all.  Click on the link the tweet to view.

Education – Pennington is the FIRST recipient of the Education Liberty Award (read his press release here) and has pledged to stop Common Core in Georgia. He is also endorsed by the Education Freedom Coalition.  His full position can be read here.

And has the Savanah Tea Party(@Savteaparty) support for the halt of Common Core!

Religious Liberty – Pennington has stated Religious Liberty Legislation is a priority.  Read his full statement here.

Ethical Leadership for Georgia – “Our next Governor needs to be someone people can trust, not someone who is in the world’s newspapers with personal ethics problems. Georgians should not be worried that our state’s chief executive is spending more time worrying about defending himself than helping improve our state.  Read his entire position statement here.

Job Creation – Pennington’s goal is to implement the job growth strategies he successfully implemented in Dalton to statewide Georgia.  Further information on his job creation strategy can be read here and listen to his proven success below.

Tax Reduction and Government Efficiency – “As Mayor, David Pennington cut taxes, wasteful spending and reformed his city budget.  While the region around Dalton continues to struggle, Dalton is doing well with lower unemployment.”  As with job creation, David successfully reduced property taxes in Dalton and turned it into a thriving city.  Read more on his success and plan for Georgia here.

Welfare Reform – “Our next Governor needs to be open to reforming welfare to protect taxpayers and ensure help is there for the truly needy, not just those who are looking for a handout.  Our current Governor has seen the number of people on food stamps rise. Georgia now ranks 6th in the nation for the number of people on food stamps.  That is unacceptable.  We need real welfare reform with an eye on costs both to our society and to the taxpayer.”

#IN-9 U.S. House Candidate Kathy Lowe Heil @kathyforindiana

By @orangeone4

Meet Kathy (from her campaign site)

“Kathy Lowe-Heil does not have a law degree or a PhD.  She is an average American citizen, that has experienced the pain of working all week, to take home half her earnings.  She has tried to live within a budget.  But, the government continues to take more and more of what they believe is their fair share.  She has cut out most luxuries and cut quality on necessities.  Kathy knows that as long as middle income Americans have little or no disposable income, there is no hope for job creation.  Like you and me she is sick and tired of being sick and tired.  She does not have wealth or big business cronies; she does not have a political bloodline.  Kathy Lowe-Heil is a typical taxpaying citizen, the kind our Forefathers intended to run this country. She has enough courage to stand up and say she has had enough, and she is asking you to join the fight to save the American dream.”

On The Issues (from her campaign site)

Obamacare – “The best way to make healthcare affordable again is to take the federal government out of the equation. Insurance should be available across state lines and left to the free markets.  The Affordable Care Act is not only unaffordable, it is unconstitutional.  Most regulations on healthcare providers do more to hinder than to guarantee the quality of services provided.”  This tweet, however, raises a yellow flag.

Education – “The federal Department of Education should be eliminated.  Education should be managed at the state and local levels.  Schools should be as competitive as the market they are preparing our children for.  Why should our tax dollars go to the federal government for a portion to trickle back down to the local schools?”

Second Amendment – “‘”Shall not be infringed’,  what part of that do they not understand?”

Tenth Amendment – “The Tenth Amendment reads: ‘The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.’  The 10th Amendment was designed to protect state sovereignty as well as Individual rights.  It is not only the right but the duty of the states to implement the 10th Amendment to deter the dangers related to an all too powerful centralized government.”

Debt and Deficit – “Today the U.S. government borrows over 40 cents of every dollar that it spends.  Our Nation’s debt is greater than our Gross Domestic Product.  It has to stop!  The government (sic) is borrowing against the future of our children and grand children.  Cutting only one cent from every dollar we spend should be something everyone can live with.  Would you really notice if you only spent $99 at the grocery this week instead of $100?  Or $49.50 in the gas tank vs $50.  It is the exact same approach.  Failure to cut that 1% now, will lead to tax increases that exceed 1% by far.  Simply cutting discretionary spending by 1% would reduce federal spending by $7.5 T over 10 years and balance the budget in 6.”

Cautionary Notes

Caution 1 – Kathy’s campaign site is silent on the topic of immigration and border security.  Although Indiana may be far from the border with Mexico, illegal aliens and their criminal behavior are prevalent throughout the U.S.

Caution 2 – Lowe-Heil supports legalization of marijuana and looks to tax revenues as a positive with no discussion about what medical professionals have found to be destructive impacts to children, not to mention the unborn.

Caution 3 – Lowe-Heil’s positions appear Libertarian rather than conservative not to mention the Rand Paul retweets. (read my Beware An April Fool – Rand Paul blog here.)  If a candidate is a Libertarian running on the Republican ticket, that, in my opinion, is deceiving voters.

On The Issues

Immigration – Stockdale’s website is silent on immigration, however, the following tweets  answer the question.

https://twitter.com/DavidStockdale5/status/451120628297240576

https://twitter.com/DavidStockdale5/status/450812432802267136

Second Amendment -“The Bill of Rights is not a suggestion! The federal government believes we become safer by forfeiting our rights as American citizens. When Washington tells us that limiting magazine sizes on firearms or targeting specific firearms for elimination will make us safer, it overlooks the failure of gun control in the past and present. It overlooks the root causes of violent crime in our country. Disarming law abiding citizens makes us less safe and emboldens criminals who ignore gun control laws. Anyone who believes that we will never need to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government overlooks the incremental elimination of liberty and the rapid growth of power and size of the federal government in recent history. I will defend without exception every American’s Second Amendment right to bear arms.”

Taxes – Stockdale supports the Fair Tax!  “Until there is enough support in Congress for the Fair Tax, I will oppose tax increases on anyone or any group. I will fight to lower the corporate and personal tax rates…While fighting to simplify the existing tax code, my long term goals are the passage of the Fair Tax and the elimination of the IRS.”  Read his full position statement here.

National Defense and Our Military – “Six of the seventeen enumerated powers of the Constitution pertain to the federal government’s role in providing for the national defense for its citizens. In Congress I will support the government’s role in national defense and ensure we are providing our military and intelligence agencies the resources they need to be successful…Our Armed Forces are filled with well trained and brave patriots who willingly serve to protect our people, our country, and our liberties as Americans…I do not support putting those who serve in the military in conflict without a clear definition of the mission and of what victory will look like. Any conflict must follow the Constitution and be approved by Congress and not be a decision only made by the executive branch.”  Continue reading his position here.

Civil Liberties – Stockdale’s strong statement on the Fourth Amendment to our Constitution: “Allowing the executive branch to indefinitely detain American Citizens without charges or trial on only a suspicion that they may be associated with terrorists is a violation of the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This violation sets a dangerous precedent for all Americans.”  Read his entire statement here.

Abortion – David’s position statement is clear and concise and one upon which ALL conservatives should concur: “The constitutional function of the federal government is to protect life, liberty, and property. I am a firm believer that life begins at conception. I oppose any public funding for abortions.”

Education – A great 10th Amendment position:  “I believe that local school boards and parents should have control over curriculum and testing standards decisions. I will only support reforms that take control of education away from the Federal Government and put decisions on curriculum and testing standards in the hands of the States who best understand the unique educational needs of their local communities…Parents should have the choice of where to send their children to school or to homeschool without the interference or cumbersome oversight of the federal government.”  Continue reading here.

On The Issues (summarized from his Position page on his campaign site)

Immigration – “America’s borders must be secured…Illegally entering this country shows disrespect for our nation, her traditions, and greatness…(T)herefore I do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants.”

National Security and Military – “I believe a strong, well funded, cutting-edge military is the best deterrent to war. Our troops are called to defend our nation and allies, not police the world.  We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the men and women who have served our country and continue to voluntarily put themselves in harm’s way for us…I support eliminating Homeland Security, reigning in the NSA, and requiring full accountability for all other agencies that have been acquiring firearms.”

Foreign Policy – “The guiding principle of our foreign policy should always be what is in the best interest of the United States.   This means that I do not support the sovereignty of the United States being subjugated by the United Nations.  We must stop sending foreign aid to enemies of the United States and countries who actively support our enemies. I stand with the nation of Israel, our only democratic ally in the unstable Middle East.”

Second Amendment – “The second amendment was passed to ensure a well armed citizenry.  It is a means to protect ourselves, and deter a tyrannical government. It is unconstitutional to limit or regulate a law abiding citizen the right to bear arms. I will fight to protect this right at all costs. I am a member of the NRA.”

Education – “Every parent should have a choice in their child’s education.  Our schools should not be regulated or controlled by the federal government. It is the role of individual states, local communities, and especially parents to decide how and where children are educated.  I support homeschool, and private and charter schools as viable alternatives to traditional public education.”  McNeil was homeschooled and is a HUGE supporter!

Energy Independence – “America is rich in natural resources. Oil and natural gas are plentiful on our own continent.  The federal government must open the gateway for utilizing our own oil fields…I support American oil and coal companies and responsible energy exploration.”

Obamacare – “I am against ObamaCare and all that it stands for. This monstrosity will fund abortions, and assisted suicide, control who will live, and die, and wreck our economy.  It must be overturned in Congress.  This is urgent and critical to ensure the survival of America as it was founded.  I support free market reforms for healthcare including, but not limited to, health savings accounts, tort reform, and insurance portability.”

Debt and Deficit – I believe our government should live within its means and should be held to the same standards as every Hoosier family…It is time for our government to “cut up the credit cards”, live on a budget, pay off debts and save for the future.”  Watch his video here.

Update #2! Rep. Liberty Caucus Endorsement! @RepStaceNelson US Senate for #SD

By @Orangeone4

Meet Stace Nelson – U.S. Senate Candidate from South Dakota

Stace Nelson_2

Update #2 – Receives Republican Liberty Caucus Endorsement

Catch up on outstanding coverage by The Daily Republic covered by the Associated Press here.

Updated With Testimonials!

Watch Dan Kaiser’s testimonial below:

Watch the endorsement from Elizabeth May below:

And just released, testimonial from Lance Russell (click on tweet link)!

Currently a State Representative from my neighboring state of South Dakota, Stace Nelson ( @RepStaceNelson )  has served the United States for decades.

I cannot introduce US Senate Candidate Nelson better than he does on the Home Page of his campaign site:

“On May 7th, 1985, Stace joined the United States Marine Corps. On February 26th, 1986, he started Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Ca. For the next 13 1/2 years he served God, country, state, & Corps as a military policeman, criminal investigator, marksmanship instructor, and NCIS Special Agent. In 1999, he was Honorably Discharged due to aggravation of injuries sustained in August 1992 when as a criminal investigator he was assaulted by a suspect in a car while apprehending him for numerous crimes including drug trafficking, burglary, and death threats to a material witness. Stace prevented the suspect from harming the witness and took him into custody. No regrets… Semper Fidelis…”

On the Issues

Immigration

Rep. Nelson is perhaps the most active U.S. Senate candidate that has fought the illegal alien issue at the state level. In a short period of time, he introduced three bills that are clear, concise and absolutely appropriate to protect America’s sovereignty and uphold our Rule of Law.  Below are the highlights and links to the specific legislation.

In 2013, South Dakota House Bill No. 1159 – related to illegal use of another’s identity to obtain employment.

In 2013, South Dakota House Bill No. 1175 – regarding hiring or contracting with an ‘unauthorized alien’

In 2014, South Dakota House Concurrent Resolution No. 1016 – Urging the federal government to enforce United States immigration laws and not grant amnesty to those who have entered the United States illegally.

Directly from his CONTRACT WITH SOUTH DAKOTA posted on his website.

  1. Support only legislation that is constitutionally sound and which equally applies to all Americans, including Congress.
  2. Oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.
  3. Support the reduction of the income tax; review and reduction of other federal taxes; limit or reduce government spending; and, support the rest of the South Dakota Republican Party Platform.
  4. Except when related to a congressional authorization of force, I will consider all spending open for reduction and vote only for budgets that present a path to balance; and, vote against any appropriations bill that increases total spending and against the authorization or funding of new programs without offsetting cuts in other programs.
  5. Support only nominations to the Supreme Court, and U.S. federal benches, judges who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution, not legislating from the bench.
  6. Oppose any further “stimulus” spending or bailouts.
  7. Support the repeal of the federal death tax.
  8. Oppose any amnesty for illegal aliens; actively work to require the securing of our borders; and, support measures which prohibit employers from knowingly hiring illegal aliens.
  9. Support the full repeal of Obamacare (also known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act); and, I will oppose any bill or budget resolution that provides funding to implement or enforce any part of it.
  10. Support pro-life legislation to permanently end all taxpayer funding of abortion in all domestic and international spending programs, and defund Planned Parenthood and all other contractors and recipients of federal funds with affiliates that perform or fund abortions.
  11. Oppose any efforts to seize, or require registration of, Americans’ firearms or any other effort to subvert or limit Americans’ Constitutional Second Amendment rights; and, I will actively support national concealed carry permit reciprocity, as well as other legislation that ensures Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
  12. Support legislation of drug testing for anyone receiving public assistance.
  13. Honor my oath to support the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, to include Article III S. 32 “Term Limitations for United States congressmen. No person may be elected to more than two consecutive terms in the United States Senate or more than six consecutive terms in the United States House of Representatives”; and, support legislation to enact those term limits nationally, to replace career politicians with citizen legislators.
  14. Care for our veterans and for their widows and orphans, by working with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserve Association, Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, Purple Heart Association, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and other service groups, to identify and support legislation that removes employment barriers, and ensures our nation is fulfilling our obligations to those of us who have borne the costs of our freedom.

This is by a man who SERVED in our U.S. Marine Corps.

Beware an April Fool – Rand Paul

By @Orangeone4

Wayne Dupree knocks it out of the park with his tweet:

An absolutely must-listen radio show by Bryan Fischer on Rand Paul’s big social issues tent which is in total contrast to Conservative principles.

Paul’s Endorsement of Mitch McConnell

One must ask, why did Rand Paul endorse Mitch McConnell? Could it be for McConnell’s rolodex as Paul runs for President?  Might the Kentucky Kickback, the $2 billion included in the debt deal negotiated with Senator Reid during the government shutdown, play a role in the endorsement since Paul needs Kentucky law changed so he can simultaneously run for re-election to the U.S. Senate while running for President? From the Senate Conservatives Fund:

“The McConnell-Reid deal not only funds Obamacare and suspends the debt limit, it also includes a provision in Section 123 that increases funding for the Olmsted Locks and Dam in Kentucky from $775 million to $2.9 billion.”

Paul’s Positions and Why They Are a Danger to America

Immigration

Based on his own statements over the last two years, Rand Paul clearly supports amnesty for the illegal aliens who entered the U.S. illegally and those on expired Visas that refused to leave.  See some of his statements below. Question the quote?  Click on the link and read for yourself.

April 1, 2014 – Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) thinks Republicans can win Hispanic voters only if the party gets “beyond deportation to the rest of the issues.” Breitbart’s article includes several quotes we include below including the damaging from a WNDTv interview: “Are they for sending these people home?” he asked. “Do they want us to put them in concentration camps, on buses, and send them back home? I don’t think anyone’s proposing that.”  Source – Breitbart.com

March 19, 2013 – “I think the whole debate on immigration is trapped in a couple of  words: Path to citizenship and amnesty,” Paul told reporters on a press call  Tuesday. “If we get trapped too much in these descriptive terms, whether  we’re for or against a path to citizenship, I think what we’re gonna do is  polarize the debate…Let’s start that conversation by  acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal  immigrants.  If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in  America, then we will find a place for you.” Source – Business Insider

March 13, 2013 – Rand Paul supports pathway to citizenship but not e-Verify. “My plan will not, though — and this is where I disagree with some in the bipartisan group — impose a national ID card,” he said. “It will also not have mandatory E-Verify. I don’t mind if there’s E-Verify, maybe related to the tax code somehow, but I don’t like the idea of making every business owner a policeman.”  Source – The Huffington Post  Paul gets it wrong again.  The employer is NOT the police officer, the employer is protecting their employees from criminals, the illegal aliens that have no issue violating our laws.  Instead he rewards the criminals for their lawlessness.

And about those back taxes, Paul says this: “I would be willing to forego the fines and back taxes in exchange for a longer and significant time period before these folks are eligible to enter into the green card line,” he wrote. Source – Huffington Post  In Rand Paul’s world, American citizens would continue to serve long prison sentences (5-20 years) for tax evasion but illegal aliens would be rewarded for the felonies they commit.

Senator Paul has been working behind the scenes to corrupt Congressional Tea Party members and push them towards his amnesty.  Rep. Justin Amash (@RepJustinAmash) couldn’t wait to draft a letter outlining support, signed by South Carolina Rep. Mick Mulvaney (@RepMickMulvaney) and Rep. Jeff Duncan (@RepJeffDuncan), North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows (@RepMarkMeadows), Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie), and FORMER Florida Rep. Trey Radel (@TreyRadel) which refers to illegal aliens’ “rights”.  Well Mr. Paul and other Congressional members, the only people with RIGHTS are U.S. citizens and you spit in our faces with your reward program for violating the most sanctuary of our laws, our sovereignty.

Question for you Senator Paul.  Based on your statements of today, as covered by Breitbart.com, what part of our Constitution and Rule of Law say that Senators can trade amnesty for the potential of future votes?  And when will you communicate your position, in person and on live television, to these victims’ families:

  • Vanessa Pham MURDERED by an illegal alien living in sanctuary VA here
  • Jamiel Shaw Jr.’s family, a young man MURDERED by an illegal alien gang member released after committing a crime involving a gun. here
  • Minnesota parents whose 4 school children were MURDERED by an illegal alien here
  • 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide in LA (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens here
  • Breitbart News reported in July 2012 that released illegal aliens were responsible for committing 19 murders and 142 sex crimes
  • Newsmax reported in September 2013 that nearly 3,000 convicted illegal alien sex offenders were released back into the US
  • The Blaze reported in July 2013, this illegal alien drug dealer was deported 11 times.
  • March 6, 2014 report that 27 illegal aliens convicted of sex crimes, including against children, were arrested at the Texas border
  • March 1, 2014 report that 34 illegal aliens committed 100 sex crimes against North Carolina children in just February 2014!
  • March 31, 2014 reports here and here and a great UK Mail article here that 68,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions were released into OUR society in 2013.

Deafening silence from Rand Paul on the travesties listed above.  Does he believe he represents illegal aliens and not American citizens?  His actions and his statements today covered by Breitbart.com is bringing that into focus.

Paul refuses to listen to Americans.  In a February 2013 poll by Townhall.com, the majority of those polled support deportation of illegal aliens.   So what is Paul’s position on deportation?  He said this during an interview with WNDTv “They’re not going home,” Paul said, adding that even the most vocal opponents of so-called “amnesty” seem to recognize this fact. “Are they for sending these people home? Do they want us to put them in concentration camps, on buses, and send them back home? I don’t think anyone’s proposing that.”  Perhaps Rand Paul should read U.S. law, that law he SWORE an OATH to uphold. Deportation is REQUIRED. And the Reuters poll confirms it too.  Mr. Paul, perhaps this from The Daily Caller and the Quinnipac Poll will convince you!

Paul also ignores Evangelical Christians on immigration. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, in a recent poll conducted by NumbersUSA of Evangelical Christians: “respondents, by five to one, regard strict immigration laws as “follow[ing] biblical teaching by protecting the most vulnerable within the national community.” The small minority says such laws “violate biblical teaching by keeping out poor foreigners seeking a better life.”

FLASHBACK when the law mattered:  According to the Huffington Post, Paul’s amnesty position is an about-face from his 2010 and 2011 stance.  “In June 2010, Paul said there should be an underground electric border fence to keep out illegal entrants. He also introduced a resolution in January 2011 with Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) — who opposes immigration reform plans — that would end the right to citizenship for children born in the United States to undocumented immigrants.”

Israel and Evangelical Christians

From the Weekly Standard in September 2013: “In an interview with Buzzfeed’s McKay Coppins, Kentucky senator Rand Paul criticized “some” Christians who support Israel and the Jews and those Christians’ “overeagerness” to go to war. Adding to sentiments he expressed in a speech earlier this year, Paul told Buzzfeed:

I think some within the Christian community are such great defenders of the promised land and the chosen people that they think war is always the answer, maybe even preemptive war. And I think it’s hard to square the idea of a preemptive war and, to me, that overeagerness [to go to] war, with Christianity.”

And his father’s actions are no better, giving the keynote address to a fringe group that denies the Holocaust.  Also from the Weekly Standard: “Rand Paul’s father, former Texas congressman Ron Paul, recently spoke at a conference sponsored by a fringe organization whose leader has denied the Holocaust took place.”

Likely the most insulting tweet from Rand Paul, taking our Lord’s name in vain all in the name of campaign fundraising.

Obama’s Cabinet Appointments

And then there are the Obama cabinet appointments he voted to confirm, stating the President should be free to choose his own cabinet.  Confirmation is one of the fundamental roles of the U.S. Senate.  Paul’s statement on voting for John Kerry:

“I voted for John Kerry and I agree with nothing he represents,” he said, “but I voted for him because I thought there was a level of at least basic human decency and honesty that exists there … and that the president has the prerogative to determine political appointees.” (emphasis added).  Read the entire article here.

Pot Legalization or Ignoring Federal Law

The Pro-Pot Paul supporters frequently beg Rand Paul to legalize pot and did so again at the 2014 CPAC event.  So let’s wait for the driver high on pot to slam into a vehicle filled with children on their way to a soccer game (reported effect: “Slowed reaction time and impaired motor coordination”); let’s pay the price of adolescent learning disabilities because they inhaled (reported effect: “Impaired short-term memory.”)  (Marijuana’s health effects: Memory problem and addiction).  And no worries about the employer that is sued for having a “pot-prohibition” policy or dares to discipline and employee that shows up to work high or doesn’t show up for days and screams discrimination.  See Marijuana’s health effects: Memory problem and addiction for more information.

Interesting how Rand Paul rails about the Obama Administration failing to enforce “certain laws” but he has been dead silent on Holder’s admission that they will not seek to enforce the marijuana laws against Washington and Colorado.

Paul’s Connection to Big Tent GOP and Karl Rove

Could Rand Paul’s about-face on enforcement of immigration laws be tied to the GOP’s 2012 post-mortem “analysis”, Karl Rove, Jeb Bush?  Perhaps.  Breitbart News reported in March 2014 that Paul is doing a robocall for Rove’s organization American Crossroads in support of the GOP-endorsed candidate in FL.

Paul’s New BFF Eric Holder

Such a cozy relationship between Rand Paul and Eric Holder, both attempting to dictate to states that felons, yes rapists, child molesters and murderers, should be permitted to vote and is framing his new bill as a “civil right”!  From The Hill in February 2014:

“Paul is working on a bill, referred to as the Civil Rights Voting Restoration Act, (emphasis added) that would apply to federal elections, he said during a speech at the law center.”

I must ask Mr. Paul, what about the victims’ civil rights?  Loss of voting rights is part of the criminal sentence.

On the Issues (from his campaign site)

Second Amendment – “I strongly support American citizens’ right to bear arms under the Second Amendment…The Second Amendment reaches back to our nation’s founding, as citizens protected their families, farms, and future from all threats. Our founders recognized the need to entrust arms to citizens, enabling them to defend against foes – domestic and foreign – and the dangers of the frontier. George Mason, who helped write the Bill of Rights, said, ‘To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them.’…I will not surrender our rights as citizens to the federal government, nor will I apologize for the culture and proud heritage of our district.  I will vocally and legislatively oppose any attempts to limit our right to bear arms and will work alongside organizations like the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and Firearms Owners Against Crime to educate Americans on the safe ownership and use of firearms.”  Read more on his position here.

Taxation and Spending – “William Cobbett, an English farmer and political activist, once said, ‘The tendency of taxation is to create a class of persons who do not labor, to take from those who do labor […], and to give it to those who do not labor.’…The 9th district of Pennsylvania has a proud tradition of labor, from rich agricultural roots to a leading producer of coal. The people of this district are not afraid of hard, honest work…I will adamantly oppose the expansion of our national debt and undue tax increases to pay for a pork-ridden entitlement government. Some say we can balance the budget in ten years; I believe it must be done in seven.  We cannot risk our future on unaccountable spending, earmarks, and government programs, which effectively hold people in poverty, and block them from a prosperous future through honest labor.  I believe in the proud work ethic of Pennsylvania’s 9th district, and I will defend your earnings against the ever-growing, ever-taxing hands of the federal government.” Read his full position here.

Health Care – “As a global economic leader for centuries, the America has thrived, based largely on the principles of personal responsibility, entrepreneurialism and free market capitalism.  Yet when it comes to healthcare, our government has undermined these principles at every turn.  Our tax laws, regulations and liability laws have, for years, driven up the cost of healthcare.  As costs rose, our liberal leaders doubled down on these bad policies by passing Obamacare, against the will of the American people.  Obamacare, with its new regulations, massive taxes, fees and mandates has already reduced choice, increased costs and squelched innovation.  Fortunately, we’ve seen the value of market based approaches that encourage Health Savings Accounts, personal responsibility, healthy living and better consumer decisions.  I will fight passionately to repeal Obamacare and replace it with common sense policies based on the principles of personal responsibility and free (sic) markets. We must reform our system to drive competition, cut costs, and return power to individuals.”  Read Halvorson’s American Plan for Healthcare Reform here.

Immigration – Halvorson’s statement on the Senate immigration bill and the expansion of H1B visas is very clear, “Engineering has shortage of jobs not a shortage of qualified workers…According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2010 there were 100,100 Americans with engineering degrees unemployed and looking for work, 244,000 Americans with engineering degrees who quit looking for work, and another 1.47 million Americans with engineering degrees working in other fields…and there are only 1.5 million people employed as engineers in the U.S.”

Halvorson is to be commended.  He disagrees with Senators Cruz and Lee on the expansion of H1B visas, and believes the role of a elected official is to represent Americans and American jobs not foreign workers.  Americans in the science and engineering field spend tens of thousands of hard-earned dollars and years completing their education and should not be forced to complete with lower wage foreign workers for jobs in their own country.

Heads up Nebraska, you have an excellent Tea Party candidate running  for U.S. Senate!

Meet Ben Sasse (@Sasse4Senate)

The Senate Conservatives Fund has also endorsed Ben Sasse.

On the Issues (From his campaign site)

Immigration – “The Federal Government’s primary responsibility is to protect Americans from enemies foreign and domestic. The American people are not safe unless we know who is entering and leaving our country. Neither Party has been willing to get serious about border security, dating back to the mid-80s when a Republican president agreed to amnesty in exchange for promises of securing the border later. It never happened.”  Read his full statement here.

Constitution – “Ben Sasse knows that we here in Nebraska have far more to teach Washington, DC than Washington has to teach us. The Framers of our Constitution understood that wisdom flowed from the governed to the government—not the other way around. This is built into the structure of our Constitutional order in the Ninth and Tenth Amendments”  Read more on his Constitution position here.

Second Amendment – “The Second Amendment affirms the rights of Americans to protect their families and property. This right pre-dates Government and is inviolable. Ben will fight to protect this and our other most basic freedoms.  The Second Amendment unambiguously states that citizens have a fundamental right to “keep and bear arms” and that this right ‘shall not be infringed.'”  Read the remainder of his statement here.

National Security – “The primary role of the Federal Government is to protect our citizens from enemies foreign and domestic. The United States should continue to maintain the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen. Federal spending should reflect these priorities.  We should approach national security with a healthy skepticism of foreign entanglements, only engaging when it is in our vital national interest. Once the decision has been made to engage, we should act with overwhelming force to decimate our enemies.”

Two Concerns

Part of candidate vetting must include flags on the play.  In the interest of full-disclosure, they are discussed below.  Hopefully, Sasse will address these in the near future.

Concern 1 – Ben Sasse has been endorsed by Paul Ryan. We all know that Paul Ryan is pushing amnesty for illegal aliens, his tight connection to John Boehner, how Ryan fought against the government shutdown and voted repeatedly to fund Obamacare.

Concern 2 – Ben Sasse’s mention of Rand Paul.  Although not an endorsement, recent comments from Rand Paul sound further alarm bells.  Paul stated that  Republicans need to “agree to disagree on social issues”.  From the Washington Post: “The Republican Party is not going to give up on having quite a few people who do believe in traditional marriage. But the Republican Party also has to find a place for young people and others who don’t want to be festooned by those issues.”  There are other very serious concerns about Rand Paul, not the least of which is his open borders and pro-amnesty stance as well as his ‘head in the sand’ approach to foreign policy.
